Send Monby a receipt on WhatsApp — it reads it, confirms what it found, and logs it CRA-ready to your Google Sheet.
No app to learn. The whole system is the WhatsApp thread you already have on your phone.
Anyone who earns money on their own and needs to stay on the right side of the CRA at tax time.
Built on Canadian tax rules, not generic expense categories.
Spreadsheets are great for your accountant — less great on a phone. The portal gives you a clean view of your expenses: monthly totals, category breakdown, full history with receipt links. And the same Monby chat is there too — same conversation, same history, in sync with WhatsApp.
Log in with your phone number or email. A one-time code does the rest — no password to remember.
Building in public, one focused phase at a time.
Sending your receipts to a bot is a fair thing to hesitate about. Here's what actually happens to them.
Three groups, and that's the whole list. The AI that reads them — Google's Gemini, with Groq as a backup — to pull out the merchant, amount and date. Monby, for support and troubleshooting. And anyone you hand your Sheet or Drive link to.
That last one is worth understanding. Your Sheet and receipt folder open from an unlisted link with no sign-in, which is what lets you open them on any device without setting up a Google login. Treat that link like a password — anyone who has it can view your records, so don't post it anywhere public.
We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with advertisers or data brokers.
No. Monby has no connection to the Canada Revenue Agency — not affiliated, not endorsed, and nothing is sent to them. There's no NETFILE or EFILE capability here.
When we say "CRA-ready," we mean your expenses are organised the way the CRA expects to see them — categorised and mapped to the right T2125 lines — so filing is straightforward when you or your accountant get to it. Nothing leaves Monby on its own.
No. Monby keeps your expenses organised year-round — categorised, mapped to the right T2125 lines, receipts archived. When it's time to file, you or your accountant work from those records.
Monby doesn't file returns and doesn't give tax advice.
Just tell it. Reply with the correction — "that was $47, not $74" — and the entry updates. You can also edit any entry directly in the portal.
Because you already have it. Nothing to install, nothing new to learn — you send a receipt the same way you'd send a photo to a friend. That's the whole point: the tool you'll actually keep using is the one already open on your phone.
Monby is free during beta, and no credit card is needed to join. When paid plans arrive, you'll hear from us before anything changes. Nothing will start charging you automatically.
Your expense log lives in a Google Sheet and your receipt images in a Drive folder — both created for you in Monby's Google Drive and shared with you. Open, edit, export or copy them to your own Drive whenever you like.
Monby's database also holds a copy of your expense records, along with your profile and conversation history — that's what powers the portal, corrections and your monthly summaries.
Email hello@monby.ca and we'll delete all of it. Deletion is permanent, so export anything you want to keep first. Full detail in our Privacy Policy.
